Happy Mother’s Day
I don’t have any moving pictures from my early youth. My parents barely had a still camera when I was first born. Still, I’m pretty sure my early childhood looked (and sounded) something like this. And for that, Matka—from the bottom of my heart—thank you.
See, it’s not how awesome the game is, it’s how excited the person playing with you gets.
Happy Mother’s Day.
Scenes from Mother’s Day
Don’t be fooled. It may look sunny and nice, but it was frackin’ freezing. Nevertheless, we braved the wind and had burgers outdoors at Ms. Evans’ house for my first Mother’s Day. Hubby assembled her BBQ and gave her some grilling lessons (he’s a good big brother), and *I* got a cake (white with white icing), and a gift certificate to the spa! My feet (and face) need some TLC.
Mr. S slept through the night leading up to Mother’s Day and said ‘mama’ the day before. I got cuddles throughout the day, and a very sweet, sleepy cuddle in the bath in the evening. ‘Mama’ has not been heard since (he’s moved on to ‘rarararara’), and he’s back to having some snacks at night, but the day was still a huge success.
Of Note: Mother’s Day
I’ve always had a picture in my mind of how I wanted to dress as a mom. Stylish, classic, but in a oh-I-just-threw-this-together/I-stay-thin-by-chasing-my-kids kind of a way. Lots of linen. Soft fabrics in whites, greys, and blacks. Skirts at the knee. White suits. Wide-legged pants. I know exactly the ad that would show you what I mean, but alas, after much searching I can’t find it. It’s a very Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, J-Crew, Donna Karan, sling-back shoe, afternoon fundraiser, lots of pearls as a bracelet, sort of a look. You know what I mean?
